History

The Cairo International Stadium is the first of its kind with Olympic standards in the Middle East and Africa. It is located in the Nasr City area of ​​northeast Cairo. It was designed by the German architect Werner Mars, the same architect who designed the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, 1936, completed in 1960 and inaugurated by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the July Revolution celebrations of the same year. Egypt won the Pan-African Volleyball Championship to be held during the period from 5/2 to 18/02/2020 at Hall 4 at the Hall Complex, covered by the Cairo Stadium, following strong competition with the countries of "Uganda, South Africa and Mauritius". The Badminton Federation, headed by Hisham El-Tohamy, won the honor of organizing this tournament as part of the general assembly of the African Union, which is held on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Nanjing, China, from 21 to 25 May. For his part, Hisham Al-Tuhami expressed his happiness with the victory of Egypt in the organization, especially after he came after a strong competition with countries with a weight in organizing the game tournaments in the Black continent.
