History

The Cairo International Stadium is the first of its kind with Olympic standards in the Middle East and Africa. It is located in the Nasr City area of ​​northeast Cairo. It was designed by the German architect Werner Mars, the same architect who designed the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, 1936, completed in 1960 and inaugurated by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the July Revolution celebrations of the same year. The dates for the Egyptian youth national team's matches in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025, are as follows: Egypt x South Africa - April 27. Sierra Leone x Egypt - April 30. Egypt x Zambia - May 3. Tanzania x Egypt - May 9. The tournament matches will be held twice daily, at 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM Cairo time, with the Egyptian national team playing all its matches at 9:00 PM. The final round matches for each group will be held at the same time, while the final match will be held at 9:00 PM on May 18. Cairo Stadium will host the opening match between Egypt and South Africa.
