History

The Cairo International Stadium is the first of its kind with Olympic standards in the Middle East and Africa. It is located in the Nasr City area of ​​northeast Cairo. It was designed by the German architect Werner Mars, the same architect who designed the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, 1936, completed in 1960 and inaugurated by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the July Revolution celebrations of the same year. So far, 33 countries have decided to participate. The African Judo Championship competitions are scheduled to be held during the period from April 24 to 28 in the Cairo Stadium’s indoor hall complex. It is of great importance as it is one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the first-place finisher will receive 700 points. The qualification system for the Paris Olympics in judo is based on collecting points through participation in international and continental tournaments. It is a difficult system that requires participation in the largest number of tournaments and winning titles in order to snatch a qualification ticket for the Olympics.
