History

The Cairo International Stadium is the first of its kind with Olympic standards in the Middle East and Africa. It is located in the Nasr City area of ​​northeast Cairo. It was designed by the German architect Werner Mars, the same architect who designed the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, 1936, completed in 1960 and inaugurated by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the July Revolution celebrations of the same year. Egypt will host the 3X3 African Championship for the under-17 junior and female teams, and the men’s and women’s teams, during the period from December 1 to the fourth of the same month. The under-17 junior and female teams’ matches will be held on December 1 and 2, while the men’s and women’s matches will be held on December 3 and 4. The qualifying tournament for the World Cup finals will be held at the cycling track in Cairo International Stadium. It is noteworthy that the African Championship qualifies for the 3×3 World Cup next year, which is part of the road to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, while the champion of the U-17 competition will qualify for the U-18 World Cup in 2023.
